The "TRNC" [Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus] is facing extreme social tensions between its 65% Turkish Cypriot (herein tCypriot) population and its 35% "legalized" illegal Turkish settler population (herein LITS). I will ignore the non-"legalized" illegals which may be dealt elsewhere.
I have two suggestions for tCypriots (with loads of affection and admittedly a wicked smile on my face):
First, the majority tCypriot ( Majority? MAJORITY!! HALLELUJAH !! Aleluya - Nana Mouskouri) can try to work out a BBF (Bi-zonal, Bi-communal Federation) new "trnc", to be called TCypriot-Turkish Federation of Northern Cyprus or TCTFNC, with equality defined as tCypriots understand it, between the majority community of tCypriots (Hallelujah - Aleluya - Michael W. Smith) and the minority community of LITSs or Legalized Illegals Turkish Settlers.
Subsequently, and once all is up and running smoothly, tCypriots can come to us gCypriots vastly wiser, and together we can emulate it for unifying the entire island between its RoC and TCTFNC, as per the BBF model.
TCypriots, the majority community of today's "trnc" ( You are the Shepherd ) can alternatively offer the LITS minority community the rights that tCypriots feel they deserve from the 1960 constitution. As soon as the tCypriot majority ( Alexandra Burke - Official Single - 'Hallelujah' ) feels confident that it runs without difficulties then tCypriots can invite gCypriots to immediately return to 1960, sure that the new implementation will be seamless, guaranteed to work without a hitch!
My personal view is that tCypriots will come out hugely wiser if they entertain either of the above recommendations, and with a far more profound understanding of how a majority community feels, especially one four times its own size. Who knows, they may even determine conclusively that Karpaz donkeys don't fly & and that the rumor of enabling technology being developed in Ankara's suburbs is nothing but a modern day myth promoted by the very real Ergenekon/TSK propaganda machine!
Note of appreciation:
I would like to thank Aristophanes and Diogenes (the Cynic) for their input and inspiration for this article, as well as prevalent conventional tCypriot political thinking.
