Cyprus' Turkeyish problem!

I will insist because i know i am right. Let us all stop referring to it as the Cyprus problem. It is not! At least not from the perspective of Cypriots, and that's what truly matters, the Cypriot perspective.

The perfect name for the problem is:

Cyprus' TURKEYISH PROBLEM!
The United Nations through a large number of resolutions recognizes Cyprus' Turkeyish problem to be two-fold:

  • an illegal invasion/occupation/colonization/ethnic cleansing by Turkey against Cyprus;
  • an inter-communal conflict that lasted 12 months and was caused by Turkey's refusal to allow the tCypriots to discuss Makarios' 1963 proposals & subsequently Turkey's encouragement of self-segregation policies by tCypriot leaders as a stepping stone to eventual partition;

It is by now evident to all objective observers that Cyprus does not have a Cyprus problem. It has, and it always had, a TURKEYISH problem!

The choice of spelling says it all!

I STRONGLY urge all Cypriots to adopt this phraseology from this point on. Do let me know if you feel this to be important. Thank you.

Last but not least, let there be no doubt that if the lecturer in the cartoon was discussing Cyprus, the 'break point' on his chart would be labelled '1960' or '1959', the years foreigners had a "Cyprus" problem and drafted a constitution to meet everyone's interests but the Cypriots!

Turkey's Kurds & Cyprus' tCypriots

As either unitary state or federation solutions are discussed as replacements to Cyprus' 1960 and Turkey's 1923 unworkable constitutions, should we abide by "if a right is a right too many for Turkey's Kurdish community (circa 23% of population) then that right is a right too many for Cyprus' tCypriot community too (circa 15%), and vice versa." Is the adoption of this fair logic the catalyst to securing just solutions for both UN countries.
