NATO Loses One, Wins Two

I know all of us are busy, thus I shall be brief. Mayhem breaks out in "Turkey" between Kemalists and Islamists. Kurds draw their own "green line" and declare a de-facto North Kurdistan autonomy. Erdogan prevails militarily in the west and attempts to recapture the east. South Kurdistan declares its secession from Iraq and unites with North Kurdistan. The USA and various western followers support the new marriage and recognize the new Republic of Kurdistan. Kurdistan joins NATO, while at the same time Islamic "Turkey" is thrown out. The Republic of Cyprus immediately joins NATO too. NATO warns "Turkey" to remove its troops from Cyprus. Egypt, Turkey, Iraq and possibly Iran challenge NATO on the Israeli, Cypriot, Iraqi and Mediterranean fronts (EEZ).

"Bizonal" Absurdity

The current Cyprus talks are based on the "BIZONAL" philosophy. Unless I voice my objection, does it not

mean I indirectly endorse these talks? Or at the very minimum that I expect out of this process a solution that respects human rights to the fullest?

But isn't "BIZONALITY" by definition incapable to deliver a solution that FULLY RESPECTS HUMAN RIGHTS and a model that maintains the apartheid logic of 1960?

Simple, But Not Simpler!

Everything should be as simple as it can be, said Einstein, but not simpler. For Cypriots it means fixing 1960,

not replacing it. Remove apartheid, foreigners' rights, fascistic divisions, colonial remnants. Restore the historic, cultural and demographic integrity of Cyprus. Safeguard every legal citizen's human rights. Protect those that need (or feel they need) protection. One person, one vote. EU, eurozone member. Europe's energy pillar & diplomacy/education regional center for the promotion of western values in a neighborhood searching for answers to fundamental societal questions.

Simple. But not simpler.

A single mention in the Turkish press in decades. That's news in itself!

No Overlap

There is no overlap between the maximum of possible Turkish concessions and the minimum of acceptable Kurdish demands.

If an agreement comes about, it will unavoidably be short lived, regardless how much foreign powers may wish it as a precondition to their regional designs. The conservative right from either side will not let it be implemented, with the Turkish right being the least patient and most threatened and therefore the one expected to act first, also implicating the Kurdish right via propaganda or incitement or both, in traditional deep state ways.

One for the Kurd, one for the Turkish Cypriot!

Nicos Anastassiades, President of Cyprus, must inform his Turkish counterpart, either directly or indirectly

via a public statement preferably in front of a European audience, that Cyprus is following closely his efforts to address his 25% minority community's demands. He should also suggest that the Cypriot experience can offer vast quantities of food for thought.

Reasoning with Turks

The more Turks envision an ethnically divided Cyprus, a historical absurdity, the more we should impress

upon them that an ethnically divided Ankara, an ethnically divided Constantinople (Istanbul) and an ethnically divided Smyrna (Izmir) must also be envisioned. Should they catch our drift, and instead throw their support behind a united Cyprus, then Turks must understand that political equality between Cypriots (Greeks) and the Turkish Cypriot minority must be no different than that between Turks and Kurds in "Turkey". That way Turks' understanding of political equality may become reasonable, as per our western sense of truth and logic.

Concessions you say?

Those that ask of me to grant concessions in order for a just and viable solution to the Turkish-British-Turkish Cypriot problem of Cyprus should know that all I had to give I already gave, and that was when I compromised for an independent Cyprus state, against the overwhelming will of the majority Cypriots, its historic people, the Greek Christians, for union with Greece. If there cannot be a just independent state, without zones, apartheid, foreign intervention rights and baloney, then the only possible solution is the union of Cyprus with Greece. If 20 million Kurds managed to survive for over 90 years as citizens of an ethnic Turkish state then it is certain that 75.000 Turkish Cypriots will survive as European citizens of Greece.

Mr Nezan uses the Cyprus analogy as part of his argumentation. Finally! Kurds begin to see the obvious, that northern Kurdistani freedom goes through Cyprus and vice versa. When will Cypriot politicians join the awakening?

Deafening Silence

Question to "Turkey" 's Democrats, whoever they may be:

Do you really think the ethnic Turkish majority can solve its Kurdish problem by ignoring "Turkey" 's words/actions in Cyprus since the 1950s in support for the Turkish Cypriot minority? Don't you find your lack of sincerity in addressing Kurdish demands starting right there on Cyprus? Why the deafening silence on the analogy?

We'll have what they are having!

If we agree that "Turkey" won't just hand back Kurdistan to Kurds through negotiations, then the most effective message northern Kurdistanis have for ethnic Turks, for westerners to listen in as well, is:

WE WANT WHAT YOU WANT FOR THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS!

It's inevitable

The landmass we incorrectly refer to as "Turkey" will disintegrate to some extend or another. Erdogan's choices, though intended to prevent the worst case scenario, are in actual fact expediting the inevitable.

I dare predict that the utter and complete failure, expected in 2013 sometime, to adopt a western constitution that addresses just Kurdish demands and introduces wider democratization reforms, will be a turning point in "Turkey" 's history & the beginning of a lethal spiral into unprecedented uncertainty as well as misery for all the constituent parts of the country.

How totally absurd!

Capitalizing 'North' I'm afraid is not enough to make a state! Ed may be young but he is not stupid. He knows that over 90% of now illegally occupied northern Cyprus belongs to its legal citizens, all Greek Cypriots, forcefully thrown out of their homes and towns & kept away for almost 40 years. These Greek Cypriots hold title deeds given from the very land registry created by the former British empire!

Cypriot or Greek?

Cyprus's Turkish problems

There is NO 'Cyprus problem' as such.

Cyprus has two Turkish problems, the 'Turkey' one [invasion + ethnic cleansing + occupation + colonization] preventing the 'Rights for the Turkish Cypriot minority' one to be properly addressed!

We need a paradigm shift! Unless Cypriots manage it, we won't be able to properly address our Turkish problems.
