A shame for the western world really, and especially for Europe, as it struggles to appease an extremely difficult neighbor for whom an understanding of the fundamentals of democracy is severely lacking. "Turkey" not only completely lacks any legal basis for her presence, but given her own dismal record of suppressing, not just the rights, but the very identity of her 22+% Kurdish population over the last 90 years, she lacks any ethical justification in meddling in Cypriot affairs. Those who understand know that this utterly pathetic situation in occupied northern Cyprus, where a millennia old, recorded, non-stop, historically and culturally rich Greek Christian presence risks being lost, can change only if the United Kingdom alters its Pontius Pilate's stance and/or the EU decides to acknowledge that the crime is so horrid that any possible political or financial risk is justified. For the sake of safeguarding Europe's own values and dignity.
